International Women’s Day 2023
Meet some of the women's groups leading locally led development solutions in their communities
Join us this International Women’s Day as we celebrate women’s groups that we work with around the world, driving forward development solutions in their communities.
At AKF, we believe that when communities come together, they have the power to influence, reshape, and unite the wider society that they live in. Community – or civil society – groups are the beating heart of all our programmes, and without them, we wouldn’t be able to take such a locally led approach to development. We place particular emphasis on women’s groups, as their voices are typically marginalised from leadership and decision-making.
This International Women’s Day, we are showcasing just a few of these women’s groups, demonstrating that when women come together and embrace their power, they can take control of their lives and protect the future of their communities.
