Overview

Founded in 1969, the Aga Khan Foundation in Pakistan is the longest-standing programme of the Foundation. In Pakistan, the Aga Khan Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life of marginalised communities and works through an integrated development approach, which leverages the capabilities of multiple Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) agencies. It also plays a convening, partnership development, policy dialogue and resource mobilisation role for AKDN and its agencies in Pakistan.

In Pakistan, many of the Aga Khan Foundation’s activities are undertaken by Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP), established in 1982. Alongside AKRSP, the Aga Khan Foundation leads a range of integrated, innovative and gender sensitive programmes in the rural areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh.

The Aga Khan Foundation in Pakistan works closely with local, provincial, national government, civil society stakeholders and bilateral partners.
