Supporting Early Childhood Development at Kuluva School in Uganda
Florence is the Head Teacher of Kuluva Early Childhood Development (ECD) School in northern Uganda, a school that radiates passion and excitement for learning.
Through years of participating in Madrasa Early Childhood Programme (MECP) trainings, Florence has strengthened her confidence and refined her teaching methods. Today, she mentors fellow educators at her school and wider community, helping position Kuluva ECD School as a role model for integrating play-based approaches into early learning.
Since 2022, MECP has trained and supported more than 3,000 teachers and educators across Uganda, all working toward high-quality ECD education.
MECP was established by AKF in the 1980s to improve access to quality ECD education and services in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
This video was produced in 2025 by Hannah Lou Malena-Morin, a Regional Strategic Communications & Impact Fellow at AKF Uganda.
