Youth livelihoods: Peris’ story
Peris has enrolled on a course at her local college to develop her skills in refrigeration and air conditioning maintenance. Now, she has the skills to apply for a job and becoming financially independent.
After finishing high school, Peris wanted to start earning an income, but she lacked vocational skills and her family couldn’t afford to send her to the local college in her hometown of Ukunda, Kenya.
She heard about a scholarship scheme supported by the Aga Khan Foundation, and was selected to start a course at a local college to develop her skills in refrigeration and air conditioning maintenance. Now, she has the skills to apply for a job and becoming financially independent.
