Health & Nutrition
Enabling individuals and communities to optimise their health and wellbeing and live life to the full.
The Aga Khan Foundation works with households, communities, governments, and our partner network to enable people to be healthy and stay healthy: especially women of childbearing age, vulnerable children under five, and adolescents navigating the complex pathway to adulthood.
We focus on strengthening population and community health, addressing health and nutrition inequalities and improving access to, and utilisation of, integrated health services, while also addressing the broader determinants that impact on health and nutrition outcomes.
A given population suffering from illness and high mortality frequently thinks its greatest health need is for a hospital. In fact, invariably the greatest need of such a population is not for a building, but for assistance in identifying its health problems and in designing solutions to them. In becoming part of the quest for answers to its health problems the community becomes part of the solution. His Late Highness Aga Khan IV
